About

Hi,

You might wonder why I created this web log. Well, I started reading blogs in 2006. They were technical blogs, photography blogs, music blogs, travel blogs, whatever blogs… I found them attractive because they are cozy, they provide an intimate way to communicate. They are subjective, they may even be wrong, but they are more than information. Actually, I never needed to write, but it turns out that I could not find a better way to share my experiences and to have you know every detail of my fascinating life! So I decided to have my own domain, where my law could apply.

My virtual life is ruled by my real life. And in my real life, I would not be able to breathe without my computer — call it how you want, but I will not use that word. Anyway, technical computer stuff is a part of my life I can share with you (or not) here. I am a computer engineer student working on many sides. One of them is the iteroperability thing: IT is very powerful and intuitive nowadays, but combining actions is not, or limited to some protected software/hardware. I want the technology convergence, but my TV is not my computer, they do not do the same thing. One displays, the other computes. Give meaning to things, and you will understand how to combine them. And it works exactly the same manner with software. This way, I am concerned about active topics like the semantic web or programming languages. This is a large but not so technical subject I will surely write about.

On this blog, you will probably find news I am concerned about, pictures I have taken or liked, tricks I use and songs I am dancing to. I do not intend to give this blog a specific orientation, this is just a personal diary. This also means that I will probably tell you stories of my everyday’s life, that is being interesting since I will spend five months (September 2008 — January 2009) in New York for an internship.

Two other things:

  • SooW is a pseudonym which does not mean anything; it just takes my initials and links them with characters I can make smileys with, like in S {0_o} W.
  • SooW’s BBQ is a lame pun with the French expression for « barbecue sauce ».

SooW’s BBQ is a public website that is made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License.

Have fun,

Warren, a.k.a. SooW.
